How You Can Help
Poverty exists in Bolivia because there are very few career opportunities for those who have grown up in poor families or in one of the many orphanages scattered around the city. Post-secondary education is unattainable for most. The majority of Bolivians live day to day on less than $200 a month and any unexpected emergency such as a health issue can cause loss of housing and the ability to support their family. Thousands of young children end up living on the streets for this very reason.
An education for our students means opportunities for a career and family that their parents or other family members never had. Past graduates of the program include a lawyer, physiotherapist, electrical engineer, business and international relations majors, among others. Through education and mentoring, these young men are equipped to break the cycle of poverty and poised to become leaders in their communities.
