Richard Redekop - Board Chairman

​

Richard is recently retired from SaskTel/SaskTel International, where he held a variety of leadership roles in operations, sales engineering, project management, solutions development, and business development. He has been involved with several non-profit and church organization boards, offering experience in strategic planning, governance, fundraising, and organizational development. Richard has supported La Jornada for over 12 years and is passionate about its vision and impact. He and his wife Ruth reside in Saskatoon.

David Harris


David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Administrative and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario. He is an experienced Executive Director with a background in education management, and brings expertise in business planning, operations, IT strategy, and law enforcement. David has travelled on multiple occasions with Saskatoon Christian School to work with La Jornada, initially as a parent and more recently in a leadership capacity. He and his wife Gwen live in Saskatoon.

Dr. Gene Marcoux

​

Gene is a seasoned psychiatrist based in Saskatoon, with extensive experience in community mental health. He serves as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan and is a consultant at the Saskatoon Health Authority's Mental Health and Addiction Services. His clinical practice focuses on severe and persistent mental illness, with particular expertise in the management of complex cases.  Gene and his wife Gerry live in Saskatoon.

 

Dr. Michael York


Michael is a recently retired optometrist based in Saskatchewan. Throughout his career, he was actively involved in professional governance, serving 12 years on the Board of the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists, including two years as President. He has contributed to numerous provincial and national committees and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Canadian Optometric Education Trust Fund (COETF). Michael was introduced to La Jornada through fellow board members and was drawn to its mission, leading him to join the Board. He is enthusiastic about contributing to such a meaningful ministry.

Joshua Yochim


Joshua is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and currently serves as Treasurer for La Jornada Ministries. He first engaged with the ministry in 2009 during a short-term mission trip to Bolivia with Saskatoon Christian School. That experience sparked a lasting passion for Latin American missions, leading to several additional trips to Bolivia and Honduras. Joshua lives in Saskatoon with his wife, Marie, and their three sons.

Michael Streilein


Michael has served as the Pastor of Missions & Student Ministries at Cornerstone Church in Saskatoon since 2014. His connection to La Jornada began in 2009 during a student mission trip to Bolivia, later continuing as an intern with the ministry. These experiences deeply shaped his heart for global missions. Michael enjoys sports, board games, and a good cup of coffee. He and his wife Kaitlyn have two children, Noah and Abigail.​​​​​
